Our Review Methodology

Transparency matters to us. Every review, comparison, and buyer's guide on Jack High Bowls follows a consistent process so you can trust the recommendations we make.

Testing Procedures

We complete every review using regulation jacks, mats, and rinks to match real-world playing conditions. Each bowl set is tested across multiple ends and shot types (draws, drives, weighted shots) to gauge consistency. When possible, we invite independent club members to participate so we can capture feedback from bowlers with different delivery styles.

Performance notes are logged on-site, photographs are captured to document bias lines, and measurements are repeated to confirm any standout findings before we publish.

Scoring Criteria

  • Line and Bias: How predictably the bowl holds its intended track on both fast and slow greens.
  • Feel and Grip: Surface texture, engraving depth, and stability in wet or hot conditions.
  • Versatility: Suitability for different positions (lead, skip) and formats (indoor, outdoor, pairs, fours).
  • Value: Pricing versus comparable models, warranty support, and availability.
  • Durability: Finish quality, chip resistance, and long-term feedback from club members.

Scores are weighted toward on-rink performance, with narrative comments that explain where a bowl shines or needs improvement.

Update Cadence

We revisit every review at least twice per season. When manufacturers release new specs or when reader feedback reveals meaningful changes, we update the article sooner. All edits are timestamped so you can see when the guidance was last refreshed.
