Aero Sonic Outdoor Test Log (2023)
- Tester: Reece Gilmour
- Test dates: 7–14 August 2023
- Venues: Giffnock BC (speed 12.3s), Leamington Spa Victoria Park (speed 14.1s), Worthing Pavilion (speed 15.2s during UK heatwave)
- Method: 30 draw shots per rink from forehand and backhand at short, medium, and long jack lengths; charted finishing spread and required aiming point.
- Results summary:
- Average forehand finishing spread stayed within 0.42m on standard greens (Giffnock, Leamington), showing smooth Harbour Bridge finish and reliable hold.
- Bias held throughout medium-fast surfaces, needing only 0.15m wider aim than Taylor International reference set.
- On Worthing’s heatwave deck the Sonic held noticeably straighter, failing to return fully on 6 of 30 long ends; re-wetting restored expected finish.
- Z-Scoop grip provided stable release for testers with reduced squeeze force (14% lower EMG reading vs plain rings control).
- Quad Earthquake colourway produced high visual flicker; video frame counts confirmed alternating panels cue delivery speed for experienced skips.
